Earlier in the term Year 6 took part in a countywide STEM challenge. Because of Covid restrictions the children were asked to make a film explaining their design. These designs were then submitted to a panel of judges. It was wonderful to hear last week that some of our pupils won the competition!
Here’s what the judges said about the winning entry:
‘We felt that the presenters of Holy Redeemer were really well rehearsed and shared their responsibilities and areas really well.’
‘Whilst the team didn’t discuss the problems they faced specifically whilst building their eco-home, they did discuss their innovative solutions such as building taller to save space, more glass to reduce use of lights and the irrigation system.’
‘We were super impressed at Severn Trent with the water recycling system that had been implemented in this home, from rainwater capture and use of greywater in the toilets. This really floated our boat and alongside all the other functionality installed in the house, we couldn’t not give top marks here!’
The children each won Lego Technic packs to take home, but also won two sets for the school.
Well done to our winners and thank you!
