In RE this week Year 1 have been learning about Holy Week. They have been investigating the Stations of the Cross to help them understand the journey that Jesus went on during the week.

To help with this, Year 6 took Year 1 to church to show them the Stations of the Cross icons in Holy Redeemer Church.  Each Year 6 child walked around with someone from Year 1 and talked to them about what was happening at each station; a wonderful way to live out our Catholic Social Teaching of ‘Family and Community’- thank you Year 6.  Year 1 were especially interested in thinking about how Mary felt at Station 4, ‘Mary meets Jesus’.

Afterwards the older children led the younger children in a prayer and liturgy service, where they read a passage and a prayer for each station.  It was a lovely opportunity for both classes – thank you Mrs Sanders and Mrs Williams.
