Year 6 have been using Harry Potter as their ‘Book as a Hook’ this term, and have really enjoyed finding out about the amazing creatures and fantastic beasts that inhabit the world that J. K. Rowling created.

This week they took their learning outdoors. The children are building up to writing their own piece that incorporates a fantastic beast. As part of this the class have designed their own magical creatures and thought about what they look like and what powers and interesting eccentricities they might have. In Forest School this week each child through about where their creature would live and then worked to create the perfect home for it, whether above ground, or below! Afterwards the children hunted through the Forest School area to collect together things their animals might need in order to stay alive, or even just this things they knew the creature would like.

When the children write about their creatures they will be able to draw upon their outdoor learning to help them.

Well done Children and thank you Mrs Andrews!
