In their lessons with Miss Arnold, Year 6 have been learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They have looked at the designs of his bridges and designed their own bridges trying to use some of the key features he used.
The children then took part in a DT challenge to make a bridge out of art straws and masking tape. They took their design inspiration from the innovative designs of the Victorian engineers that they had been learning about (see if you can you spot any features of the Clifton suspension bridge or the Maidenhead railway bridge in their designs). Once built, they tested the strength of their creations to see if they were fit for purpose.
