This half term Year 5 have been learning about rainforests in Geography. The children have been fully immersed in the topic by exploiting cross-curricular links in English and Art. Their ‘Book as a Hook’ has been Katherine Rundell’s ‘The Explorers’ and their art this term has focussed on developing observational drawing skills, where the children have honed and applied their disciplinary knowledge by drawing plants and animals found in rainforests-drawn from pictures. Mrs Breakwell has built on their previously learn knowledge of shape, line and texture and taught them how to use different pencils to create effect. Have a look at some of their finished sketches:
