This term in Year 5 they are learning about life in Ancient Greece and Egypt. Their ‘Book as a Hook’ is The Book of Mythical Beasts & Magical Creatures, by Stephen Krensky.

Today they took their mythology learning outside, choosing a mythological creature and using mud, and other natural resources, to create a model of that creature, using only their hands for tools. There some amazing creatures-from moon rabbits, dragons, golems and fairies, to the snake-haired Medusa herself!

The class finished off the session by thinking about how the Ancient Egyptians had been able to build such amazing buildings, like the pyramids at Giza, and experimented with pulleys to see how much easier it was to lift and move objects using them. They started off with sticks and logs before moving on to a tyre and even a pupil!

Needless to say, much fun was had, not to mention lots of memorable learning. Well done children and thank you Mrs Andrews.
