Year 5 Lunchtime Dungeons and Dragons Club

At lunchtime on a Tuesday Mr Hall runs a Year 5 D & D Club. Currently he has three year 5 groups playing on Tuesdays, with the Year 6 groups playing on a different day.

D & D is a fantasy, role playing game, where the children design their own characters and then, as a group, these characters embark upon imaginary adventures within a fantasy setting. One person takes  on the role of the Dungeon master (DM) and serves as the game’s referee and storyteller, while maintaining the setting in which the adventures occur, and playing the role of the inhabitants of the game world. The characters then interact with the setting’s inhabitants and each other, working together to solve dilemmas, engage in battles, explore, and gather treasure and knowledge. In the process, the characters earn experience points (XP) in order to rise in levels, and become increasingly powerful over a series of separate gaming sessions.

It’s a great way to develop imagination, teamwork, creativity, problem solving skills, map work and strategy…but the main reason Mr Hall runs the club is because it’s great fun and the children love it! Thank you Mr Hall.
