In their History this half term Year 5 are learning about Ancient Egypt. In yesterday’s lesson they learnt about Egyptians communicated using hieroglyphs and other symbols. They found out that they wrote these down on papyrus, made from the pith of a wetland plant that grew along the River Nile. The class researched the plant and found out that it was sacred to the Ancient Egyptians. They also learnt how to make papyrus and had a go at making a paper substitute in a similar way.
