Last week Year 5 had an exciting outdoor learning session focussed on their science topic of forces. They talked about mechanisms, like pulleys and levers, which use a small amount of force to have a greater effect, like lifting objects.
The children put their learning into practice by rigging up pulley systems and used them to lift a range of objects, starting with lighter ones and working their way to lifting heavier ones. They discovered that by using a lever, with rope, they could make lifting things even easier-even managing to lift some of their classmates!
