On Year 4’s Viking Day, at Bishop’s Wood, the class went back in time and imagined what life might have been like for Viking settlers. They began by looking at recreations of Viking artefacts and then had a go at building their own settler camps, and learnt how to build and light a fire.
After lunch the children visited a house built in Viking/Anglo Saxon style, and learnt about how people would have lived in it. They also tried their hands at a variety of trades and crafts that people at the time would have done: spinning wool, making pots out of clay, and fashioning their own Viking amulets from copper wire.
Thank you to Bishop’s Wood for a wonderful day of learning!
