Year 4 were shocked one day recently to find that their chairs had quit and they had nothing to sit on! Their chairs had left them a letter explaining that they were quitting because they didn’t feel appreciated, or looked after. The children were very keen to put things write and wrote back to the chairs apologising and promising that things would be different in future if the chairs decided to come back. Thank fully all the chairs returned to their normal places and the children once again had somewhere to sit and work. This was a great hook into their literacy this term, based around the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, by Drew Daywalt, and has inspired some wonderful writing.
Needless to say, the chairs have been extremely well looked after ever since.
