Year 3 had a very exciting cross-curricular unit on Volcanoes last term. As well as learning about how volcanoes are formed and where in the world they can be found, the children used their Geography topic to inspire their learning in Computing, Art and Science by learning how to use Procreate on the ipads, to produce volcano-inspired art, and making papier mache volcanoes which they made erupt through the power of science.
This half term they will link this learning to their History topic on the Ancient Romans, by learning about Pompeii. This half term’s ‘Book as a Hook’ is ‘Escape from Pompeii’, by Christina Balit, which will not only support the children’s learning in English, but also in History.
