Year 3 linked this half term’s outdoor learning to their history topic, ‘Stone Age to Iron Age’. Mrs Andrews showed the class pictures of cave paintings that have been found in different parts of the world and how historians have dated them. The children looked at the School timeline and realised how long ago these ancient paintings had been made, and how long these periods in history were, compared to other eras. 

The class researched the difference between cave paintings in the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods, comparing and contrasting them. Afterwards the children went out onto the playground, armed with pictures and chalks, and had a go at recreating some of the ancient artwork that they had discovered.
