Year 3 led the school community and their parents in a thought-provoking and reflective Celebration of the Word on the theme of Lent and Reconciliation.
The music they had chosen – ‘Zacchaeus’ and ‘Father I Have Sinned’ – proclaimed the scripture they had reflected on in class. The children who had received the Sacrament of Reconciliation, for the first time recently, shared the impact the sacrament had had on them. The prayers, which had been written by the children, showed an excellent understanding of reconciliation and the season of Lent. Everyone was impressed with their ash crosses and the symbols they had chosen to illustrate. At the end of the celebration, the whole school joined them in singing ‘Song of Hope’ by OneLife Music and prayed the Jubilee prayer together.
The children made excellent links between the fundraising we are doing for Lent; our school mission statement and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Thank you Year 3 and Miss Taylor for reminding us that Lent is a season of reconciliation and change, where we can all have an impact on the lives of others.
