“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

Our Home School Learning Journey

Welcome to Year 3/4’s home school learning journey…

A short time ago in a galaxy not so far, far away…

…Children in the UK were adapting to a new world, it was called: “School Closure.” Some referred to it as “social distancing” or “lock down.”

This meant children had to work harder from home…

… parents and carers became teachers…

…then, brilliant work started to appear!

Inspired readers became authors…

More excellent work…

Wonderful work and practical skills

Authors became columnists…

How did Mary and Colin’s personalities change throughout the book ‘The Secret Garden?’

Firstly, Mary was sour and grumpy because she had never had a friend before. Then, as the book progresses Mary becomes full of happiness. This was because Mary met Dickon and Colin. So, Mary knew how to make friends. So, Mary eventually made some friends. This shows the reader that it is good to have friends because you have someone to look after you and care for you. To laugh and have fun with. This is just what Mary needed.

Next, Colin could not walk because he didn’t believe he could. This was until Mary and Dickon showed him and helped him to do it. They did this because they were his new friends and they were there for him. Dickon helped Colin to move around and Mary was by his side so he would not fall and hurt himself. Mary cared for him and so did Dickon. Colin began to like the outdoors, Dickon’s animals began to like Colin and Colin began to like the animals.

Finally, Colin felt healthy and at the end he could walk and found his father. They were reunited and their relationship was repaired.
