As part of their geography local study of Pershore, Mr Hawtree’s class visited the town centre. They used OS maps, looking at the signs and symbols on them, and matched them to human and physical features in the town.
They spent some time interviewing members of the public, asking them why they had come to Pershore and how they had got here. They found out that bus transport was very important to the older generation.
They also interviewed shop owners to find out why transport is important to them. They told the children that transport was vital so that their goods could be delivered and so that customers could get to town to buy their items. They also identified that bus transport was important because business owners rely on it for customers to use.
The class then compared the use of vehicles on the High Street to Lower Priest Lane, to find out which road were important for trade.
The children then used their maths skills to buy fruit and calculate change.
