Last Monday morning Year 2 visited the wetlands to carry out an investigation into the habitats there and the plants and animals within them.
The class started their walk from the Chery Orchard House end of the boardwalk and visited the pond to observe this habitat. Whilst identifying and recording plants and animals found there, the children made a link to their learning about Moses when spotting some bullrushes.
Afterwards they followed the path to the river to compare the plants and animals found on the grassland there. They used PE hoops as quadrants, to narrow down the area they were observing and investigating. There was a lot of excitement at one point, when a red kite flew overhead.
Thank you to Miss Aumeer for squeezing in this valuable learning experience in the last few days of the year so that the children could achieve their Crest Star award!
