In Science, Year 2 have been learning about living things and their habitats. The children focused on microhabitats, and explored the school grounds, including forest school, the playground and the eco garden, to find out more.
Each child had a clipboard with their recording sheet on it, and created a map of each microhabitat, recording their careful observations. They were excited to discover many living things, both plants and animals, all around them, including woodlice under logs, butterflies and bees in the flower bed, spiders in the bushes and frogs in the pond…and many more!
In their next lesson, the class will be deepening their scientific understanding using their research skills to find out about larger habitats around the world, including deserts, mountains, jungles, oceans and polar regions.
