On Monday the Year 2 children were transported back to 1666 to discover what life might have been like during this period of time, including the Great Fire of London. The children visited a number of ‘market stalls’ where they turned their hands to making candles, nose gays, leather bookmarks, ink, a wax seal stamper and where they practised their weaving skills. Alongside this they baked bread, helped put out the Great Fire of London by pulling down houses and worked together to make fire lines to get the water from the wells to the burning houses. They did manage to find a few minutes to learn some 17th century games, including marble games and hunt the slipper.
