The Diocese of Worcester had organised an Advent Posada with figures of Mary and Joseph visiting different churches in the Diocese during Advent. We were lucky enough that Pershore Abbey had been selected to take part and Mary and Joseph visited the Abbey on Wednesday 4th December.
Posada is the Spanish word for lodging or accommodation, so each stop on this journey is their lodging for the night, representing the lodging places Mary and Joseph stayed at on their way to Bethlehem.
Six children from Year 2 were able to go along and join other schools, to see Mary and Joseph arrive in the Abbey. While they were there the children listened to a Christmas story and sang some Christmas carols too. It was great to be able to join together with children from other local schools and with members of the Abbey community.
As learning about Las Posadas is part of the Year 2 RE curriculum, it was a great opportunity for the children who went, to take some photos and videos wo share with the rest of the class.
Thank you to Sam Andrews, from Pershore Abbey, for inviting us.
