Year 2/3 Gardening Club

Gardening Club has become so popular that we have had to run several clubs this term! At this week’s Year 2 and Year 3 club the children have been enjoying learning a little more about gardening.  They were especially excited to learn about the different plants we have around school.

So far this term they have managed to plant some potatoes: learning about how they grow and produce more potatoes.  They have even planted some wild flowers seeds.  One group have also cleared and dug over one of the planting beds, ready for new plants.

It was very exciting to see how many minibeasts we found such as worms, centipedes and spiders; we even found a fully grown frog!

The children were very considerate to each other, by sharing and swapping different tools with each other, taking turns to push the wheel barrow and sweeping up.

This week the children even got to do some pond dipping.  Thank you to our parent helpers who also supports the groups each week. Thank you also to Bob, Val and all of or parish volunteers and to Mrs Sanders for co-ordinating everyone. We couldn’t do it without you all!
