WWI Whole School Topic

This term the children in all classes, from pre-school to Year 6, have taken part in a whole school, cross-curricular topic focusing on at least one aspect of WWI. We have done this as a way of commemorating the Centenary of the cessation of fighting in the Great War. Each class has tackled the subject matter in different ways, from different perspectives and in a range of different curriculum areas, at a level appropriate for the age of the children. It has been a hugely inspiring topic that has really captured the interest of the children and it has led to some very deep and memorable learning.

Here is just a small insight into the learning that has gone on across the school in R.E., literacy, art and design technology. There will be more on show on Friday afternoon too, in our ‘Lest we Forget’ concert, where whole learning in music, dance and drama will also be showcased, alongside contributions from the school choir and band.
