On Tuesday 27th February, Mrs Baker held an assembly to launch our participation in the Worcester Stands Tall project. This is a collaborative art project involving businesses and schools throughout Worcestershire, which aims to raise money for St. Richard’s hospice and involves the decoration of a giraffe sculpture.
In the assembly, Mrs Baker asked the children to think of a name for our giraffe calf and explained that, over the coming weeks, everyone would be able to submit a design for the sculpture based on the theme “How is our school community unique?”.
A design team, of two children from each year group, will then work alongside Mrs Breakwell and Mrs Baker to agree a final design for the giraffe. The design team will work with Mrs Breakwell to decorate the sculpture before it is taken to Crowngate Shopping Centre, to become part of a sculpture trail in Worcester City centre. The trail opens to the public on 22nd July. All other children and adults within the school will also have an opportunity to make a mark on our sculpture, by helping to decorate the base.
Keep an eye out for an update of the name for our giraffe and how the design team are getting on.
