To help us on our Lenten journey of prayer, the whole school enjoyed a day of retreat and reflection, on the 19th March, with Dan and Emily from ‘One Life Music’. The theme of the retreat was ‘A Heart that Sees’ and we were encouraged to open our hearts to see what is happening in our world and to think about what we can do to make a difference and try to relieve some of the suffering we see around us.
During the retreat day, pupils and staff took part in two beautiful celebrations of the Word which were led prayerfully and confidently by members of our Values’ council. They learned some great new songs with sign language and were engaged in class activities which focused on opening our hearts to others during Lent. The activity which most children and staff enjoyed was the meditation on the work of the carpenter. They had lots of fun posing in heart shaped glasses as we try to become a school with a ‘Heart that Sees’.
Thank you to One Life Music for an inspiring day of prayer and reflection, music, laughter and sharing. Everyone appreciated the opportunity to withdraw from normal school activity for one day to spend some time with each other in prayer.
