With school opening on Monday 8th March, some children may have some concerns or questions about this. They may need some support with transitioning back into school life after another lockdown.
This week, for Well-being Wednesday, there are several suggestions to help with this.
Activity 1: Lockdown Reflection
Use the ‘Lockdown Reflection’ sheet (click on the link below) as a talk starter activity. Children could speak about their thoughts with this or they could write them down. This could be kept for future reference. This activity may also prompt them to share further ideas or questions that you can discuss together.
This book has been used in several classes in school already and it is a great resource for helping children to perceive what worries can feel like and how we can manage them. You can listen to the story on YouTube by clicking the link below:
Afterwards, children can draw their own worries. What might they look like? This is a creative task but will encourage them to talk about how they’re feeling too. To balance this activity out, children could also have a go at drawing other feelings. What does happiness or excitement look like?
