Last week, we had a visit from Fr Mamdouh abusa’da, the founder of the School of Joy in Bethlehem. Last year the children at Holy Redeemer did some fundraising for this charity and Fr Mamdouh came to say thank you and to ask again for our support. The School of Joy caters for special needs children around the Bethlehem area; they currently have 91 students who, without this school, would have no access to an education.
Fr Mamdouh described what the school does and how it is funded totally by the charity, ‘Friends of the Holy Land’. Our children had lots of questions for him and he enjoyed his visit very much. They were fascinated by the fact that he was born and grew up in the birthplace of Jesus.
The Values’ Council will meet to discuss what Holy Redeemer can do, during Lent, to fundraise for this charity, and we are very much looking forward to supporting this worthy cause once again.
