After Mrs Barker’s assembly during Fair Trade Fortnight, and the subsequent Fair Trade supermarket challenge that she set for the school, the Values Council decided to set up and run a Fair Trade stall, in order to support poorer farmers and communities in the developing world getting a fair price for their produce, as this links to our School Catholic Social Teaching principals of Solidarity and Dignity of Work and Workers.
The school made contact with a Fair Trade wholesaler to see what items they could supply, and the children carried out some market research with their classmates, to see which items were the most popular, before asking Mrs Hall to order them some stock. The parcel arrived this week and today the children unpacked their stock. They are very excited to be opening their stall for the first time after school tomorrow!
They will be stocking Devine chocolate bars, Bear Yo Yos and Wish4 Fairtrade cookies, brownies and flapjacks (including a gluten free option). All items are either 50p, or £1, so please bring some change with you when you pick up tomorrow and support this very important initiative.
