Holy Redeemer pupils finished the academic year in a spectacular way with their production of Treasure Island! Based on the book by Robert Louis Stevenson, this salt-encrusted, cut-throat musical production took place at Number 8 Theatre on July 14th and 15th. With a cast of over 75 pupils playing the roles of sailors, pirates and hula-hula girls, the show played to packed houses on both nights. The singing, which was accompanied a band in the pit, was amazing and included some lovely solos by many of the cast. The acting during the show was also first rate and we were all very soon transported back to 18th century. Here we faced fierce pirates and a rather dodgy crew on the SS Hispaniola. A special mention must be made of the colourful costumes and scenery. Everyone concerned had made a very special effort to make sure this all added to the audience’s involvement with the story.
Well done, Holy Redeemer pupils! A superb end to a very busy academic year!
