Take One Picture Exhibition

This week all of the children’s hard work on the Take One Picture project was on display around the school…and what an amazing array of diverse responses to the painting were on show! Across the school each class had taken different aspects of the painting, or painter, and followed their own interests, from a focus on endangered habitats in Reception Class (interpreted through a collaborative installation piece of a great white shark hanging in a plastic-filled ocean, and through ocean animal hats), to Year 2’s 3-D dreamscape models and animations, to Year 4’s jungle-inspired screen printing and poetry, to Year 6’s collaborative recreation of the painting using the medium of clay (each child making a tile of a part of the picture).  Other media on show were watercolour landscapes, from Year 1, pencil sketches by Year 3, and rainforest-inspired collages from Pre-school and Year 5.

Year 6 guides expertly took visitors around the gallery and explained the motivation behind each collection of work, and the processes and media used. It was an impressive display.

Thank you to our pupil guides, the staff who worked so hard behind the scenes to display the work so beautifully and to all of our visitors.
