Sporting Round Up

There have been lots of opportunities for the children to participate in sports and PE already this year, both in school and out of school, both at competitions and at festivals,  This is just a very quick catch up to share with you some of the sporting successes that Holy Redeemer teams and individuals have had this term.

Our Year 4 hockey team, and both our Under 11 boys and girls athletics teams won the local rounds and went on to represent South Worcestershire at the Winter Games. Our Year 4 hockey team won the gold in the finals, and our Year 6 girls athletics team won silver.

Most of our Key Stage 2 children took part in the local region cross country with many of them qualifying for the Regional event, where we came 1st and 28th (in the county) in the girls event, and 5th and 14th in the boys event. Chloe and Jack will now go on to compete at national level; a fantastic achievement.

Our Under 9 and Under 11 football teams competed in the CTA football tournament at Winterfold, where the Under 9 team won and the Under 11 team came 4th: our best result in the football yet!

Our Year 6 netball team won the indoor netball tournament at Blessed Edward’s and at the weekend the Under 9s took silver at the CTA event with the Under 9s putting in a great performance at their first tournament.

Huge congratulations to all the children involved at all levels. Thank you for your hard work and determination. These kinds of successes can only be achieved through commitment and effort, not just on the part of the children, but also from the staff; so thanks also go to Mrs. Annis and to her band of volunteers and adult supporters, especially Marie Porter, who supports the children at so many events.
