Science Week: Wind-powered Vehicles Workshop

To kick National Science Week off with a bang, Sarah Lalor, from StemWorks, came into school to lead a whole school science day.

The day started with an assembly, all about the power of wind and how it can be harnessed to propel vehicles. Sarah then went on to explain the challenge.

Back in class the children worked in small groups to make wind-powered vehicle prototypes, which they were able to test out using a large fan before settling on their final design.

After the set amount of time allotted to the challenge, each class returned to the hall, one by one, to race their vehicles against each other. The winning vehicle from each class then raced against each other to give an overall winning vehicle, with Easter egg prizes for all class and overall winners.

Congratulations to all of our winners; great application of science knowledge and great teamwork!

Thank you to Sarah for donating her time to lead this fantastic opportunity for the children.
