Science Club for KS1 saw them investigating liquids. We didn’t believe we could make liquids sink or float. Mrs Sanders put a can of coke in a tub of water, and as we predicted, it sank. However, when she put a can of diet coke in, it floated higher than the full sugar coke. We talked about liquids having different densities. To prove this Mrs Sanders poured treacle into water and it sank to the bottom; then, she poured oil in and it floated on top. We all experimented with different objects and predicted whether they floated or sank. Finally we tried marbling with oil based inks that floated on the water to create amazing art work.
