Christine, our School chaplain, came in on Monday to lead our liturgy assembly, based on the readings from Sunday’s mass. After she had lit the first two candles on the Advent Wreath, she opened ‘God’s Big Book’ and read to them about John the Baptist. Christine made a link to the Pershore Plum Festival town crier and explained that John’s job was a bit like that-he had been called to sh. She reminded them about the town crier’s bell, that he uses to get people’s attention, and then she shared John’s messages with them, ringing the bell from time to time to indicate an important message. Every time she rang her bell, the children called out ‘listen up!” before listening carefully to what John had to say about preparing a way for the Lord, and how we can use Advent to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus on Christmas Day.
Thank you Christine for yet another interesting and fun liturgy assembly.
