On Monday our School Chaplain, Christine, came in to lead whole school prayer and liturgy based on the Gospel readings from Sunday. After opening ‘God’s Big Book’ with Alleluias and a loud “Hurray for God!”, she read from Mark’s Gospel and explained to the children that the disciples had been arguing amongst themselves over who was the greatest.
Christine asked some of the children to help her by holding up the letters g, o, a and t, and their modern day meaning of ‘Greatest of all Time’. The children thought about what Jesus had said: “If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the servant of all”, and how they could all be GOATs, by following our School Catholic Social Teaching elements and helping to look after others. The children had so many ideas for how they could do this and were challenged to see how many of them they could do this week.
