Safer Internet Day 2017

On Tuesday 7th February 2017 the whole school joined in with celebrating Safer Internet Day.  The day began with an assembly, to introduce the theme of online images.  We talked about how these can give away clues about ourselves and that we do not always know who will see the pictures that we post online.

Following on from this, individual classes took part in a variety of activities related to the theme.
Reception class watched a film about staying safe online and took part in a quiz.
Year One drew emojis and wrote sentences about things they like, without giving away personal information.  They also wrote their own tips, using what they had learnt.

Year Two watched a film about keeping personal information safe and created posters with top tips for staying safe online.

Year Three looked at how people can form an impression of someone, both positive and negative, from looking at a photograph.  They created their own images and took photographs of themselves to show positive images.  They also created emoji masks.

Class Five took part in activities about internet security, thinking about which information is safe or not safe to include online.

Class Six watched a film about online images and what other people might think about them.  They also took part in a SMART kids quiz and commented on their impressions of photographs.
The children all participated really well and enjoyed the day.  They were also invited to enter a competition relating to the theme for this year’s Safer Internet Day.
REMEMBER to return your entries to school by MONDAY 13th February 2017 if you want to stand a chance of winning one of these fantastic prizes.
