Last Friday we had a very exciting visit from Nerys, a member of the RIS education team.
She stared the day with a Community Show for parents, siblings, pre-school Rising 5s and members of the wider community. It was a very dramatic show, full of explosions, launching rockets, creating gases (and using them to put out candles) and setting things on fire. Needless to say we all enjoyed it immensely and learnt lots!
Throughout the rest of the day Nerys worked with the children, giving them an insight into what it is like to be a scientist. Their shows were equally exciting and spectacular and there was a fantastic, science-inspired buzz all around the school.
After school Nerys led some staff training for the teachers, which was also great: thank you Nerys and the RSI!
Thank you also to the PTA, who were able to get some grants to part fund the day, and who paid balance. Special mention the the Rotary Club for their donation towards the day and thanks to their representative David, who came along to the Community Show.
