As part of their topic on traditional tales, Reception Class went to FSC Bishops Wood to take part in a themed day based on the Three Little Pigs and other tales. The children began their day with a woodland story told by Steve, and then worked in groups to build houses of straw, sticks and bricks. However, the Big Bad Wolf successfully blew down the straw and stick houses. Fortunately though, the brick houses withstood all the wolf’s huffing and puffing! In the afternoon, the class enjoyed going into the story wood where they were able to explore a range of activities linked to different traditional tales. They made ‘porridge’ for Goldilocks, used puppets to retell the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff, made gingerbread men using mud and created their own stories all in the beautiful woodland. Much fun was had by all. Thank you to Mrs Barker, Mrs McLean, Miss Hunting and Miss Wykes for accompanying the children.
