Reception Class Round-up

Last week Reception Class were very busy creating and writing their own stories based on Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car. First,  they explored different settings in which the story could be set and then added different animals and a different vehicle, to create their own story. The children used their class story map to remind them of the story structure and remembered to use lots of the same wording as the book, such as; ‘Alright,’ said Mr Gumpy, ‘but it will be a squash.’ The children were able to be Creative Chameleons and create their own problem and resolution to the story. Everyone worked really hard to write their stories. They wrote lots of sentences to innovate the story and were very Proud Peacocks when they had finished!

In Maths the class compared numbers up to 10, using concrete and pictorial resources.
They also enjoyed their first story time of the summer term, with parents and grandparents coming into class to share and read books with the children. What a lovely way to end the week.
