Reception Class Forest School: Repeating Patterns

In class last week Reception class were learning about repeating patterns, so on Wednesday they took this learning outside into Forest School. They began by practising subitising up to 5, then set off to search for hidden number cards. Once they had found a card the children had to find other children whose cards had the same pattern (5 in each group) and then work together to physically make the pattern.

Afterwards the class wrote the letter of the day (l) in the mud, using fingers and sticks. As it was a wet afternoon there was plenty of mud! Also great for finding wiggly worms!
