In class this week Reception class have been reading some of John Burningham’s Mr Gumpy books. In forest school the children worked together to build a motor car, like Mr Gumpy’s, using tyres and pieces of wood that Mrs Andrews had provided them with. They talked about what would be the best size and shape for the car and whereabouts in the forest school area to build it.
After the children had worked together to build their car, they re-enacted the story by helping to push it and taking on the roles of Mr Gumpy and all of the people and animals who went on his outing with him. The children had remembered the story really well and really enjoyed acting it out.
The session finished, as always, with some own learning time.
Well done children and thank you Mrs Andrews.
