Reception Class Forest School: Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car

This week Reception Class have been reading Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car, by John Burningham.

In Forest School the children worked together to build a motor car. Their first job was to go on a tyre hunt! The children even made an improvement on Mr Gumpy’s car design by putting on a roof, because they remember that in the story Mr Gumpy had got wet when it rained. The class knew that the car needed an engine, a steering wheel, a gear stick and axels: great car knowledge Reception Class.

After building the car the class went for a ride in it to enjoy the sunshine. After their ride they played their favourite Forest School game, ‘1-2-3, Where are you?’, with Mrs Andrews.
