Racism Assembly

This week two pupils gave an assembly on racism. They had been concerned over the recent racist incidents in football and approached Mrs Hall to share their concerns. They felt that as a school Holy Redeemer should be trying to do something about this. Mrs Hall asked whether they would like to lead an assembly and both children said that they had already started writing one.

It was a very thought provoking assembly, sharing some of the background to racism and then some information about people who had fought for acial equality over the years. There was a particularly impactful section on Rosa Parks, where children were asked to come up and role play that pivotal moment when Rosa refused to give up her seat.

Thank you to both pupils for their hard work on this. They are truly living out our school mission statement and are ‘making a difference in our world’.
