Primary Engineer Celebration Event

Two teams of children from this term’s KS2 STEM Club went along to the Primary Engineer Celebration Event, at Long Marston, today to showcase their finished projects.

Over the last few months the children have been working together, supported by Miss Russell and Mr Hall, to design and build railway engines and complete a workbook. Today they got the chance to test their engines in a railway challenge, and compete against teams from other schools.

The day started with time for the teams to make final changes to their engines, before testing them, pulling carriages on a 10 gauge track and adjusting as they felt necessary.

Each team’s engine was then put to the test and challenged to pull carriages as far as the station along a track. Points were awarded on the basis of how well they met the brief, including how well they had completed their workbooks.

Staff and pupils were very excited to learn that one of the Holy Redeemer teams had won the gold medals! Congratulations everyone.

Thank you to Primary Engineer for funding this wonderful opportunity and to Mr Hall and Miss Russell for running the club.

We’re looking forward to seeing what the children attending next term’s club will make!
