Last  week in Pre-School, the children enjoyed lots of Easter-themed activities, such as decorating cardboard egg cut-outs, shaping blue playdough into Easter eggs and carefully decorating them with buttons, sequins and matchsticks, and making their own Easter cards – choosing between decorating eggs, or creating yellow handprint chicks with feathers and googly eyes.

In maths, the children explored repeating patterns, using pegboards and pegs and also rolled dice to match the number they rolled to the correct numeral ‘nest’, before counting out the corresponding number of eggs – great way to strengthen their number recognition and counting confidence.

In RE we made palm leaves by cutting paper, practising scissor control. The children enjoyed listening to the story of Palm Sunday and then acting it out, using their paper palms.

The week was rounded off with an exciting Easter egg hunt in, our outdoor learning space. The children were fantastic at finding the eggs, but couldn’t find the last one. They noticed that each egg had a number on it and then worked together to put the eggs in order and find the missing number. Great work Pre-school!
