Our Hopscotch children learnt a new rhyme this week with ‘One Two Three Four Five, Once I caught a fish alive’.  They thought about how to ask questions, using their communication skills to discover facts about fish, such as: Where do they live? What do they eat? How do they breathe?  The children took on new vocabulary to learn about the body parts of fish and their environment.

The children continued to order numerals, and practise their counting skills, by making a fish number hanging.  Some children wanted to write numerals and showed us how well they are doing at holding their pencils.  The class counted out five fish from a group and created a blue pained pond for them.  Even our littlest children enjoyed counting opportunities this week and explored this in their outdoor learning. 

We are enjoying seeing the first signs of spring and have tidied our own little garden area, pulling out weeds and sweeping leaves, which is great for our bodies and fingers.  We also collected a large tub of frogspawn from the Eco Garden and the children are enjoying watching it slowly change from day to day.

Everyone enjoyed our fishy week, and cannot wait to see what nursery rhyme we will learn next week.
