Pre-school started the term with an ‘All About Me’ week, where staff and children spent time thinking about the children and getting to know each other and their families.

One of the favourite activities was looking at themselves in mirrors, then searching cut up photos of faces, and seeing if they could spot their own. Once they had found them, they put them together, then looking to see if they could spot parts of their friends’ faces too and look at how they were the same, and different.

During the week the children had great fun using pebbles to make pictures that represented themselves and the other people in their families. They talked about which were the bigger and smaller stones and how they could choose particular stones to represent bigger and smaller people.

This was a great opportunity to focus pre-school’s class saints-The Holy Family. The children developed their pencil grips and fine motor skills by colouring in pictures of Jesus’ family and turning them into stand-up models to put on the class altar. 

Over the summer a group of staff, parent. pupil and parish volunteers had been very busy watering the garden, so there was lots of ripe produce to pick. The children in pre-school were very excited to go out into the garden and pick tomatoes, apples and berries for their snacks.

What a great start to the year !
