As part of their science topic on Electricity, Year 6 enjoyed an afternoon with James.

They revised how electricity is generated and how it is used. They also discussed renewable sources of energy.

After learning about sources of electricity, the children were asked to construct model cars, using circuits. They then had an opportunity to race the cars. When they finished they were asked to use their engineering skills to fault find.  They had to adapt the car and improve it before racing it for the second time. It was a very enjoyable afternoon with lots of excellent learning opportunities.

Quotes from the pupils

“We learnt about renewable sources of energy and sustainability. This links to stewardship and how we can look after the world”  Timurs and Nidhal

“I enjoyed making the cars because I learned how to spot the faults and correct them.”  Edward

“It was great to work together to create the cars.”  Layla
