Poetry Competition

Every year, at the end of the Summer Term, we hold a poetry reciting competition. Children from Year R to Yr 6 learn a poem off by heart and then recite them in front of their class, focusing not only on remembering the whole poem, but also on expression. The best performers from each class then perform again in front of a panel of judges and the whole school. The standard of performance is always exceptional, and this year was not different. The audience were entertained by a wide range of poems, from limericks to some of Shakespeare’s sonnets, and even to some poetry that the children had written themselves. Well done to everyone who learnt a poem!
Thank you to our wonderful judges, Helen Evans and Lyn Lister, for giving up your afternoon to do what proved to be a difficult task!
