Sports & PE

At Holy Redeemer sports and PE have a very high profile. Our children love PE and sport and this enthusiasm and ethos alongside our excellent provision, are ably led by Mrs Annis, Mrs Porter and our Change 4 Life Team and Sports Council (elected by their classmates each year). Mrs Annis is our dedicated PE teacher, and teaches a lot of the class PE lessons, and is supported by Mrs Porter, our Sports and PE teaching assistant. This provision is enhanced by specialist coaches in some areas (cricket, tennis, football, rugby) and by our own Mrs Anderson who is a qualified netball and yoga coach. Mrs Annis is also one of our swimming coaches. Other staff in the school also have sports/fitness specialist experience and/or training: Mr Hall is bellboating helm trained and has competed at national level in dragon boating, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Porter also coach swimming, Mrs Hill has dance qualifications, Miss Russell played hockey at county level and both Mrs Andrews are qualified in leading outdoor adventurous activities as part of their Forest School training. Mrs Barker plays netball for a local team, and has a keen interest and a wealth of experience in fitness and running. All these staff work together to support teaching and learning in PE in the school.

Across the year we enter lots of tournaments, festivals and events in a wide range of sports and PE areas. Wherever possible we take as many teams as we can.

This year we are running before, or after, school clubs in netball, football, yoga, fitness, running, fitness, basketball, hockey and dance.
