It was wonderful this afternoon to be able to open our school gardens and once again invite parents, parishioners and NGA visitors onto our school site: we have really missed community contact over the last 18 months! Thanks to Bob and Val and the eco team, the gardens were looking fantastic, with an amazing range of species on show. Our fantastic guides did a wonderful job taking visitors around and talking to them about the gardens and the plants on show-much to the admiration and appreciation of all visitors. Most people rounded off their visit with tea/coffee and cake in the hall. Huge thanks to all staff, parents, pupils and parishioners who gave up their time so generously, to help out on the day, and to everyone who sent in cakes.
Here are some of the lovely things visitors wrote about their visit:
“So impressed with all the hard work in the eco garden. Millie and Avani impressed us with their knowledge of the plants and we were amazed at the amount of plants in such a small space.” (Steve, Marie, Jacob, Benny, Ken and Gillian)
“Thank you very much to Julia and Morgan for a very informative tour of the gardens! We particularly liked the Ladybird Poppies. Lovely cakes too! The eco garden gets better every year we visit. A stunning display of flowers, trees and fruit plants. Everything is looking so lush and well cared for.” (Anna, Lucy, Edie and Stella)
“What a brilliant day and tour, by our two tour guides, ending with a lovely cuppa and cake. Thank you: a great day.”
“We really enjoyed our tour of the eco garden and were impressed with how much is grown there! Jacob was an amazing tour guide too.” (Sian and Lee)
“What a wonderful idea, having the children guide and tell us about the gardens. Very informative: I was the student today. I love the pond and the water source. I hope you enjoy all those strawberries you planted!! A big thank you to William, my guide and thank you to the volunteers and mothers/fathers who baked the wonderful treats.” (Laurie Powell)
“A wonderful garden and a great use of space. We have discovered some new plants thanks to our guides.” (Simon and Joseph)
